I am really considering going back to school. I’m a stay at home mom in Noblesville, IN who would like to do something online. Have you ever went to Kaplan University? How is it? What about the degree program? I’m interested in Medical Transcription and they do have an Associates degree that I can get it. I’m just nervous and feel that maybe this could be the wrong choice, but I can’t find many other schools offering Medical Transcription online. Any advice, suggestions, or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

I can say that some people I know are successful with degrees from Kaplan University. I know directors and manager of pretty large companies that have degrees for Kaplan and University of Phoenix. I guess it is all in what you do with your education when you finish. I also know people who have said Kaplan or any online college is not worth it but it depends on the person. You have to know how to apply yourself and work with what you have. Also if you are going to pursue an associates I would advice you to continue your education and get at least a Masters because these days an associates isn’t worth much of anything. You may have a chance at getting a better job and even getting your foot in the door at a doctors office but not any managers or directors positions for large corporations. Hope this helped you.
Kaplan is a for-profit school with a poor reputation.
Find something online from your local Community College instead.
There is an online guide to choosing a medical transcription course of study on the website below. Learn the difference betwen getting a certificate anad being "certified". Big difference. You’ll also find a lot of online schools there too. Not affiliated with any school, just good free info.
