How long does it take to get a certificate to be a medical transcriptionist?

I am 48 years old and looking for something new. I saw an add in a magazine about medical transcription. How much schooling does one have to have to get the certificate, and how difficult is the course?

There is one here close by which is about a year long. They tend to be expensive (at least in my opinion). Have you had any previous medical classes/termionology etc? That would be helpful. It’s a little tough learning the new "language" of medicine but very interesting. I have done it for 10 years. If you want to ask me any questions, just email me. !!

Most programs take about 2 years. Be wary of "certificate" vs. "certification". Big difference.

There is an online guide to choosing a course of study on the website below. No affiliation with any school, just good info.

By taking four months online course, you can get certificate. In medical transcription, not much value for certificate without quality. You have to give good quality. You can visit http://www.andhrascribe.com/ for online medical transcription course and join below group to interact with their students.
