I am really leaning toward attending Career Step to obtain Medical Transcription training. A local community college is offering training for this as well, but takes a lot longer and will interfere with my work schedule. Is Career Step worth my time and money? Will I be able to get a good paying job after graduating from Career Step? All answers and advice will be greatly appreciated.

I advise that you investigate all the AHDI-approved schools that have virtual classrooms and see which one meets your needs. You should select one that best suits your learning style and has an excellent placement program, as it’s very difficult for new graduates to get a job.
I am currently in college for transcription, and from what i’ve heard, it is very hard to find a job in transcription right now. I wish I would have known that before I paid almost 20,000 dollars at National College. After I graduate in feb. I’m going to a community college to be a RN. Community colleges are a lot cheaper.
Julianne’s response is right on. You should check out the availability of medical transcriptionists in your area. And if you are unable to find any; then reconsider your current career opportunity. I seriously believe that the job availability for medical transcriptionist is highly overrated.
Good luck!
