It depends on the school. Financial Aid can get a little complicated with online schools, but there are plenty that are authorized to offer a variety of Federal and State financial aid programs. Of course, other schools aren't. Generally, when a school DOES offer financial aid, they will say so. If getting Financial Aid is really important to you, consider "shopping around" for an online college until you find one that definitely offers financial aid. Make sure you give them a call to find out how to qualify (i.e. if you have to take a certain number of classes, etc.).

A site I've used...

It seems there's a lot of money to fund further education. I am not completely familiar with it, because I have not looked into it that carefully. But as linked above, I went to Career Step website, and looked at future students, then clicked on Needs based tuition assistance.

Most programs will have a similar section, offering suggestions on how to fund education, get loans, etc.

Hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, feel free to email me!

Sincerely,

Some of the schools do offer financial assistance. In addition, your state may offer funding if you are unemployed. You might check with the state job service department.

As far as choosing a school goes, you need to read the online guide to choosing a course of study on the website below. There's a difference between getting a certificate and being "certified" and you'll want to know what you're getting into before you begin.
