It is a good profession. You need to type fast. You need to know medical terminology. You need to be good at problem solving and working well on your own. You should be proficient in English grammar and style. Pay is good if you can work with a hospital, but you must be able to work well with others. If you work at home, you must be very disciplined and will probably get paid by production. I have done this for over 20 years. I would research local hospitals to see if they have onsite transcription department or outsource. There are also many transcription services out there. Pay may not great to start, but there is potential once you get in the flow of it… Go to Salary.com (or similar sites to check your area wages.Good Luck.

There is always new doctors. They always need MT’s. There will always be old and young people going to the docs. So dont worry about it dying out. Plus with experience you make good money.

I am take the classes now. I just got 100′s on two test I took. Good luck to you if that is what you decided.
