I went to college a few years ago to become a medical assistant. In that program I was required to take basic medical transcription. The next year I also completed the advanced medical transcription program and was told I would have NO trouble getting a job from my home as I had straight A’s and a great understanding of everything. Here I sit 2 years later…..In disbelief that I was never able to obtain a work-from-home position. Every company wanted 2-10 year of experience and I offered to take numerous multi-specialty tests to prove myself. The last one I took I was told that I didn’t score high enough to be considered as a candidate. I’m still not sure how this could be. Anyway, since it has been a few years, is there any hope for me to be able to work from home as a medical transcriptionist, or should I just chalk it up as a learning experience and move on?
I need some major advice on this one!

No, you’ll never get a job working at home if you aren’t willing to go work on-the-job somewhere for awhile and gain at least 2 years of experience. Your grades don’t make a difference. How you transcribe is what counts. It takes real, on-the-job experience to pass the tests to meet their standards, with training you can only get on-the-job.
So many colleges aren’t honest with students when they say you can work at home! You can’t just go to school and start working at home!!
