Usually, your employer will just send you an audio file which you will need to convert into text format. This may sound like an easy job but it requires a good sense of hearing for you to understand and type the words properly. You’re just listening to the audio file, typing it into a text format and sending it to your client via email. Payment for your transcriptionist employment often depends on how many hours of recordings you transcribe. Completing an hour of audio may take you several hours as you need to listen and re-listen to it just to get all the words correct. While the effective rate for each hour you work depends on your transcription speed, it is usually much more than your per hour rate with a regular job.
