I have been an MT for 13 years and worked from home half of that time. Its becoming a rough industry these days. Working from home as a medical transcriptionist is a high possibility. Most of the jobs now are from home. However, the transcription companies are just looking for the cheapest possible MTs. They are shipping a LOT of work offshore. The competition is severe. Anyone working in the US now is looking at working for a company that doesn’t pay for holidays, doesn’t pay well, on and on. It is a possibility but finding a good company to work for and making a decent living are becoming harder and harder every day. I make less money now than I did with NO experience straight out of school. Do some research. Weigh the pros and cons. The cons for me outweigh the pros, but this may not be the case for you.
