What can you say about the Medical Transcriptionist Course?

February 11, 2010

I’m a new immigrant. I came here in the U.S. as a dependent to my wife who is a nurse. I was a graphic designer. We’re in a small town and it’s difficult to find a graphic designer job. Will the Medical Transcriptionist course help me change my field? Please help me decide.

There is a newsletter for medical transcriptionists. Here’s the link:
http://www.hpisum.com/perspectives/
You will find some very educated writers there including Richard Lederer who is a best selling author. One of the newsletter contributors told me to stay away from a school called Career Step. She said the gold standard of schools is Andrews followed by M-tec. You will stand the best chance of getting hired by an agency if you have one of those on your resume. It is more lucrative to work for an agency as opposed to freelance. They will even take care of billing.

Good Luck
