I wouldn’t pursue it unless you’re sincerely interested in medical transcription, enough that you’d be willing to do it in an office. It’s not a quick learn, and a lot of folks end up heartbroken trying to become good at a job they in which they were never interested in the first place. The working conditions are wonderful, but it takes a long time to become proficient enough to make decent money.

Don’t let the "work-at-home" thing color your decision. It could seriously detract from your quality of life.

As previously answered, you will have a difficult time finding a job even if you have graduated from a reputable medical transcription education program. Employers may hire graduates from some schools without experience, so the school you select will make a difference. Very few transcription services or doctors offices are willing to train someone with no education in medical transcription and no experience.
