I know there is job availability for but is there really for Medical Transcriptionist? What is the reality of working from home as a Medical Transcriptionist?

Just about all work-at-home ‘jobs’ are a scam especially if asking for money upfront or for personal info which may put one at risk for ‘identity theft’: http://www.ftc.gov and can click on that term or such.

If still interested in training (for either or any other field), please consider the more affordable county vo-tech school or community college as opposed to those private $$ tech schools as long as it’s accredited within the industry.

General career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘pharmacy technicians’, ‘medical transcriptionists’ or such.

DO NOT become a pharmacy technician. I graduated a few months ago, I thought I would like it, but pharmacy is so boring, and complicated, and it can be very stressful. Unless it’s something you’re passionate about, don’t get into it. Unless you want to work in a hospital (the money is good)

I was a home based transcriptionist for 13 years. The work is hard, and you need to have experience before working at home. However, a pharmacy tech will never work at home!

There’s a ton of info about medical transcription on the site below, including job details and stats, as well as how to choose a MT school. Not affiliated with any product, just good free info.
