I’m considering using to do my . I’ve had a good experience in speaking with them but want to know what others have to say.

Has anyone out there had any (Good or bad) with this company? Just curious before I make my decision.

Thanks for the help!

I went with a similar course, Meditec, and was very happy. Meditec has an internship w/ the program that nearly guarantees success. Career Step has been around awhile and has stood the test of time. Meditec has also been around for nearly 40 years. Both are good programs. Meditec would be a bit faster to get through, and has the internship w/ it and is less expensive with lower down payment and monthly payment plans. Good luck w/ either.

Most medical transcription training offered online are from non-certified training institutions. And of course, they want to promote at-home medical transcriptioning which is not possible here in the U.S. due to patient confidentiality since the majority of medical records are not allowed off-site from their medical recordkeepers.

If you happen to take a certified medical transcription training course at a brick and mortar institution, then you are properly certified. However, finding an in-house medical transcriptionist job is another matter which in the end, you will have to decide whether ot not it’s worth all the time and effort to acquire a medical transcription certificate initially.

Good luck!

I do not have personal experience with this company, but they have been around for a long time and a lot of people recommend them.

There is an online guide to choosing a medical transcription course of study which you should read, to understand the difference between getting a certificate and being "certified", as well as pertinent questions to ask of the training company. Good luck!

In my opinion Career Step is one of the best on-line training programs. They have a real job placement program where they are actually affiliated with companies who hire their grads. This is very important as it is very difficult to get that first job once you complete training if you are wanting to work from home. Most medical transcriptionists who work for National and many who work for small local services work from home. Medquist and Spheris both are affiliated with Career Steps and between them they have in the neighborhood of 15,000 medical transcriptionists working from home.
